For Lucy and Gary, choosing Hotham Hall was not simply a practical decision. It was an emotional one, shaped by connection, timing, and the sense that this place was simply meant for them.
A Deeply Personal Choice
Lucy had a connection to Hotham Hall that went beyond a venue search. She had seen the Hall before its renovation and had followed its transformation with quiet excitement. When the time came to find a wedding venue, there was really only one contender. “Of all the venues, it felt like the timing was serendipitous,” she says. “Somewhere that would be truly meaningful for us both.”
The moment they arrived to view the Hall, the feeling was confirmed. “Completely blown away,” Lucy recalls. “Not just with the beauty and impact of the Hall itself but with the attention to detail, care, love and craftsmanship applied.” It is not just beautiful, it is considered. Every corner reflects real passion and craft.
A True Partnership
What made Hotham Hall feel right was not the building alone, it was the people. Lucy and Gary were not treated like customers. They were welcomed as partners. The team’s response to every idea, every request, every nervous question was the same: of course. Rachel’s words, “It’s yours for the weekend, use and enjoy the space!”, say everything about the spirit of the place.
For Gary, food was a particular concern. But when Jules presented the catering options, any anxiety evaporated. “We were blown away all over again,” Lucy says. “Knew Jules would deliver an unforgettable experience.” For couples who want food to be a real highlight of their wedding day, this matters enormously.
Planning was seamless. The team were responsive, open-minded, and endlessly flexible. Lucy visited with her suppliers and was welcome to bring her parents for walkthroughs, and do a full run-through before the day. It was, in her words, “just easy, nothing was too much trouble.”
A Day to Treasure
The wedding day itself brought Storm Amy, but rather than dampen proceedings, the weather drew everyone closer together. The Georgian interiors, warm and striking in equal measure, held the day beautifully. “I love the mix of traditional and contemporary that has been designed in the space,” Lucy says. “Every attention to detail. Warm and welcoming.”
The standout moment? The ceremony itself, the instant Lucy and Gary saw each other. “It just felt electric, very emotional and what we’d all waited for,” she writes. “Getting emotional now writing this!”
Guests were equally captivated. So many declared it the best wedding they had ever attended, citing the beauty of the Hall, the warmth of the team, and food that was, simply, “out of this world.”
In Her Own Words
Lucy describes her wedding at Hotham Hall as ethereal, soulful, fated. Did it exceed her expectations? “Blew them,” she says.
“Getting married at Hotham Hall was unforgettable because they didn’t just host our wedding. They flawlessly translated our vision into a day that felt serendipitous and truly magical.”
